Sometimes it makes sense to install a cat door in an interior door. Say, for example, you need to be able to keep cats separated from each other, or you want to have a door closed but still permit cats to pass through.

But not everyone wants to look at a typical cat door inside their home.

That was the situation for Amy, author of the Hello Victoria blog. She had an area under the stairs of her English cottage that would be perfect for her kittens’ litter box. The area had a door, but not a terribly attractive one. And, since the door was visible from the dining room, she wanted something nice.

Amy’s solution was to dress up the door, adding panels and making one of them a ‘secret door’ for the kitties.
