It was an early start yesterday for the two-hour drive from Auckland through typical winter fog to Hamilton.

All worthwhile though, to be part of another very well-organised and well-attended Hamilton Cat Club show.

Thanks to the HCC organisers and judges, and congratulations too all the winners.

Lucky break for free-roaming cat Wilbur

Wilbur, the lucky cat

We’re delighted to hear that Wilbur the roaming cat was found – 25km from his home in Cambridge – after he showed up at Waikato Hospital in Hamilton.

But it seems that Wilbur’s safe return to his owner, after 16 days away from home, owes an awful lot to good luck. As reported by the New Zealand Herald:

[the owner] first became aware that he might be in the city after noticing a post on a Lost and Found pet’s page on Facebook saying there was a “friendly ginger Tom hanging around the ED, does anybody want him”.

The Herald doesn’t say whether the helpful staff at Waikato Hospital had Wilbur scanned for a microchip (or whether Wilbur was chipped).

But too often we hear of free-roaming cats who don’t make it home safely.

Please keep your cat safe from harm, by keeping your cat at home.

Oscillot cat fence at Nine Lives show in Hamilton

Thanks to all the organisers and exhibitors of yesterday’s Nine Lives Cat Club show at Hamilton Gardens. We enjoyed attending the show and talking with cat owners about how to keep their pets safe and happy at home.

On 15 June we’ll be at the NZCF National Show in Tauranga.

We’ll be back in Hamilton on 7 July for the Hamilton Cat Club show.

Thanks to the Hamilton Cat Club for putting on another great All Breeds Show yesterday at Hamilton Gardens. This was the club’s 67th annual show and it just gets better every year.

We were pleased to be able to talk with so many show visitors about cat safety.

Judging at the 2016 All Breeds Cat Show in Hamilton

We’re looking forward to another visit to Hamilton for the Hamilton Cat Club’s 67th All Breeds Show, on Sunday 8 July.

The show will be at Hamilton Gardens, and will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm.

Come and meet some adorable cats and find out how to keep your cat safely at home, using the Oscillot system.
