We always say that you can install Oscillot® on just about any kind of fence.

The latest proof of that comes from Neil, a customer in Sunnylands, Auckland.

Neil had already had some success containing his cat by cladding the top of his fence with corrugated roofing iron. But then he found the cat had gotten out, apparently by taking a big jump and hooking her claws onto the top edge of the iron.

About a week ago, Neil installed Oscillot at the top of the roofing iron, carefully positioning our offset brackets in the valleys of the corrugation. It’s a neat looking installation in black to match the fence. He even added Oscillot to the garden shed that is next to the fence.

And the verdict?

“The escape artist has inspected it quite thoroughly and is fully unimpressed.”

For more cat containment solutions, browse our Photos page.

Happy New Year everyone.

Despite all the challenges of the past two years we have seen steadily growing interest from cat owners in keeping their pets safe and happy at home. 2021 was actually our best year ever, so we feel very fortunate indeed.

And, we have some exciting news. We have just received out latest shipment of Oscillot® cat fencing from the manufacturer, and we are now able to offer Monument Grey paddles (sometimes known as Gunmetal or Gun Metal grey). That’s the colour shown at the top of this page.

These are significantly darker grey than the Woodland Grey (also known as Slate Grey) paddles we have sold for many years. Many customers have asked for a darker colour, so we hope these will prove popular.

Unfortunately, the old Woodland Grey paddles are currently out of stock with the manufacturer and we have only limited supplies in New Zealand. Please contact us if you are interested in the lighter grey and we’ll see what we can do, but this colour will probably become unavailable for a few months at least.

We also have a new webpage showing the colours available. This has been a real challenge, however, as it is very difficult to show colours accurately on a computer or mobile phone screen. So much depends on the characteristics of the screen, the brightness, the viewing angle, etc. We think the grey colours shown on the webpage are pretty close, but Merino seems to vary quite a lot depending on the user’s device. On some screens it looks pink, on others it looks orange, but it is neither of those!

If you are in Auckland, you are welcome to come and look at colours. We can also send small samples.

Fences need to be in good shape before installing any cat fence system. Here's an example of work we have done to repair and adapt a fence.

The post Getting fences into shape appeared first on CATFENCE.

When we advise people on how to contain their cats on their own property, we try to look at the entire situation from a cat’s point of view.

A good example was an installation we did last week in Auckland.

The first thing we noticed was that the fence was not straight in some areas. As well, some of the palings were missing, loose or had warped.

Our recommendation was that we first stabilise and straighten the fence, before installing the Oscillot cat fence system.

In the main photo (above), you can see some of what we did:

A: Replaced a missing paling in the corner.

B: Removed excess height from fence posts (which would have blocked the Oscillot system), and wrapped the posts in aluminium to prevent climbing.

C: Installed a new top rail around the entire perimeter to stiffen and straighten the fence, as well as providing a solid mounting surface for Oscillot.

Most New Zealand fences are timber and it’s common for them to need a little bit of repair. We’re happy to advise you on what’s required.

If you’ve been considering an Oscillot® cat fence system, we have lots of exciting news for you:

1. Our latest shipment has just arrived from the manufacturer and we are once again able to offer black paddles in addition to our customary grey and merino.

2. We have changed the way we sell Oscillot in New Zealand. You can now buy your Oscillot system as a kit to cover a specific length of fence. These kits range from 2 metres (that’s one paddle plus two posts) all the way up to 100 metres. Here’s the full range.

3. Our Buy page has been updated to reflect this change and make it even easier to work out your requirements.

4. You can now shop online and pay by credit card (with no surcharge) or bank transfer.

5. Our prices now include GST.

6. And, to top it off, we have reduced the price of all products. On the larger kits, that means savings of hundreds of dollars. (If you’ve purchased from us recently, don’t worry, you paid the new lower prices!)

Whew, that’s a lot of changes!

We hope this makes it even easier to add Oscillot to your yard, and keep your cats safe at home.

Yes, we still offer our famous no-cost, no-obligation advice gained through years of experience in keeping cats safe!

And our free shipping offer applies to all orders over $500 including GST.
